According to the maintenance schedule for all 2018 Volkswagen models (except the all-electric e-Golf), this service should be performed every 40,000 miles or every 2 years, whichever comes first.

Engine Air Filter Replacement Service

Similarly, the engine requires air to mix with the fuel to create the combustion that makes your vehicle run. An engine air filter is included in the intake to prevent dirt, dust, litter, leaves and other road debris from getting into the engine and causing damage. Over time, this filter will clog with debris which can choke the engine, leading to poor performance and fuel economy.

On most 2018 Volkswagen models, this filter should be replaced every 6 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Fuel Filter Replacement Service

For the most part, fuel safely stored in underground tanks at local filling stations won’t have any foreign matter. However, just in case, your vehicle includes a fuel filter in the fuel line between the tank and the engine. This filter will pick up any particulate that might find its way into the fuel tank and keep it from getting into the engine.
